Louise J. Wells, 83, of Matoaca, passed away on Wednesday, April 14, 2010 a Colonial Heights Health Care Center. She was the daughter of the late John Henry and Lillian Blythe Johnson, and was preceded in death by her husband, George Booth Wells, and a brother, John H. Johnson Jr. Mrs. Wells was a member of Matoaca Baptist Church for over 50 years, the Ettrick American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, and the Friendship Senior Citizens Club. Mrs. Wells was a retired Production Supervisor for Brown and Williamson Tobacco Company in Petersburg. She is survived by three sons, Charles E. Skinner of Colonial Heights, John A. Skinner of Matoaca, and Vernon L. "Bookie" Hatton and wife, Mary Kay of Colonial Heights; two daughters, Sylvia H. Ellis and husband, Harrell of Stony Creek, and Lavonne Debbie Hatton of Dinwiddie; eight grandsons, Charles Jr., Dennis, Brent, Cory, Chad, Justin, Jeremy, and Aaron; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Virginia Crumpler of Suffolk; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 17, 2010 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard with the Reverend Donald Joyner officiating. Interment to follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday (tonight) at the funeral home.
