Lucille Aters

Lucille Claytor Aters, 90, of Colonial Heights, went to be with her Lord on Sunday September 8, 2013. She was born March 4, 1923 to the late Thomas L. Clayton Sr., and Minnie Belle Harmon Claytor. Mrs. Aters was preceded in death by her husband Charles H. Aters, III, a brother Thomas L. Claytor Jr., and two sisters, Mary Furman and Myrtle Schwartz. She retired after 41 years of service as an Executive Secretary from Fort Lee civil service. Mrs. Aters was a charter member of Swift Creek Baptist Church in Colonial Heights and a member of the Bright Hope Bible Class. She is survived by her loving son and daughter in-law Charles (Chuck) H. Aters, IV and wife, Sue of Colonial Heights, sisters, Jane C. Pond of Colonial Heights and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday September 11, 2013 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory with the Reverend Dr. Steve Felker officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park Prince George, Virginia. The family will receive friends Tuesday September 10, 2013 from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
