Lucille Clarke Cole, 83, of Colonial Heights, passed away on Sunday, September 27, 2009 at Lucy Corr Village. She was the daughter of the late John L. and Onie May Brown Clarke, and the widow of Martin King Cole. She was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Tomlin, and a brother-in-law, Jean A. Metosh. Mrs. Cole was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, a Charter member and Past President of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 2239. Lucille, also known as "Sam" retired from the optical business after 50 years of service. She is survived by a daughter, Robin L. Cole of Midlothian; a son, Brian M. Cole of Prince George; two grandsons, Michael K. and Travis A. Cole of Texas; a sister, Barbara C. Metosh of Colonial Heights; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; special friends, Candy Stoneman, and Cebe Kellum. A special thanks to Lucy Corr Assisted Living for all of their loving compassion and special care. A VFW Ladies Auxiliary Memorial Service will be held 1:30 p.m. Friday, October 2, 2009 followed by a funeral service in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard with the Reverend David Prather officiating. Interment Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
