Lucille Rudy "Tootie" Lane, 81, of Colonial Heights passed from this life on Wednesday, March 6, 2013. Tootie and her husband, Larry W. Lane were residents of Gloucester County, Virginia after their retirement from Allied Signal, Hopewell plant in 1991 until his passing in 2010. Lucille relocated back to Colonial Heights in the Fall of 2010. She was born September 10, 1931 in Petersburg and was the daughter of the late Katie Lou Grigg and Henry Ernest Rudy Jr., and was preceded in death by her first husband, James Richard Bowles and brothers, John Oliver and Phillip "Bo" Rudy. She was a graduate of Petersburg High School and retired from Allied Signal after 38 years in Human Resources. Tootie and Larry enjoyed fishing and traveling in their retirement years. Survivors include her daughter, Deborah Bowles Smith and husband, Mike of Kill Devil Hills, N.C.; son, Richard Allan Bowles and wife, Judy of Colonial Heights; step-sons Larry Mark Lane and wife, Mary Jo of Colonial Heights, Gregory West Lane and wife, Rebecca of Columbia, S.C.; eight grandchildren, Wendy Pond Harrup and husband, Chip, Bryan Pond, James and Channing Bowles, Jarod, Hannah, Halsey Lane and Hiedi Sunico; six great-grandchildren, Bryce and Bradyn Harrup, Hailee and Aimee Carroll, Adam West Sunico and Madison Layne Pond; her older sister, Doris " Deannie" Hopkins; and sister by marriage, Evelyn Rudy. The funeral service will be Monday, March 11, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard with the Reverend Bobby Lane of First Christian Church of Hopewell, officiating. Burial to follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
