Lucy Barfield

March 27, 1932 — May 7, 2015

Lucy Humphries Barfield, 83, of Matoaca, passed away on Thursday, May 7, 2015 at the Crossings at Ironbridge. Born in Petersburg, she was the daughter of the late John Wesley Humphries Sr. and Lucy Webster Humphries. She was the widow of Leo Barfield. Mrs. Barfield was a member of Matoaca Baptist Church, the Richmond Emmaus and the Order of the Eastern Star, Alpha Chapter. She is survived by two sons, Richard Leo Barfield and wife, Jane B. of Chester, and David Christian Barfield and wife, Khai of Matoaca; four daughters, Sheila B. Bragg and husband, George of Chester, Patricia B. Cornett of Chester, Kathryn B. Laffoon and husband, Kevin of Matoaca, and Deborah B. Williamson of Chester; ten grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; a brother, J.W. Humphries and wife, Rose of Chesterfield and a sister, Barbara Davis of Chester. A Graveside funeral service will be held 12 Noon on Monday, May 11, 2015 in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg with the Reverend Jay Carey officiating. The family will receive friends from 3 to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 10, 2015 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Lucy Corr Foundation, 6800 Lucy Corr Blvd, Chesterfield, Virginia 23832. Condolences may be registered at www.ealvinsmall.com.
