Luis "Red" Torruella, 49, of Prince George, Virginia, ended his Earthly journey during the early morning hours of Friday, October 31, 2014 at the Medical College of Virginia, after an extended period of illness. He is survived by his two loving daughters, Emily and Patricia Torruella; and his parents, Marcelino and Hildegard Torruella; and siblings, Petra, Marcelino Jr., Carmen, and Maria. During Luis' time on this Earth he was able to share his unique outlook on life all throughout the nation. He was able to spend twelve years in Portland, Oregon raising his daughter, Patricia. As time went on he was brought back to his childhood home of Prince George, Virginia. While he was dedicated to being a man of action, he decided to extend his family and had a daughter, Emily, in 2007. Luis loved and known as "Uncle Louie," was always able to light up a room with laughter as well as keep people on their feet by asking philosophical questions that could leave you wrapped up in thoughts for days. Luis' kind and understanding demeanor is sure to stay in our hearts until the end of time. The family will receive friends Tuesday, November 4, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Petersburg Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 3935 S. Crater Road. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at Memorial Chapel, 1901 Sisisky Boulevard, Fort Lee, Virginia 23801.
