Mabel Logan Harpole, 90, of Petersburg, Virginia, peacefully passed away to be with the Lord on February 12, 2024. She was born in Smithfield, Virginia, on May 12, 1933. Mabel was preceded in death by her husband, John D Harpole, Sr.; her daughter, Donna Harpole Bishop Taylor; her son, John D. Harpole, Jr.; four sisters; one brother; and her granddaughter, Kristine Wilcox.
Mabel was renowned for her loving and kind-hearted nature. Her unwavering faith in the Lord guided her through every chapter of her life. Her selflessness and boundless generosity were evident in all her interactions. She dedicated her life to caring for her family, finding immense joy in being a devoted Mother and Nanny. Her cherished moments were spent with her daughter, grandson, great-granddaughter, and great-great-grandson, whom she held dear to her heart.
Surviving Mabel are her loving daughter, Kathy E. Wilcox (Harpole); grandsons, Lloyd C. Bishop III and Noah Wilcox; great-granddaughter, Sierra Bishop; great-great-grandson, Camden Chadek; niece, Debbie Richardson and husband Ronnie, and many other nieces and nephews; one sister; and beloved friends, Charles "Chuck" Grove and Nellie Powers.
In honor of Mabel's memory, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to The Children's Hospital of Richmond at VCU, support.chfrichmond.org in lieu of flowers. Mabel's legacy of love, faith, and compassion will forever be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Interment will be private. Arrangements are by the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes.
