Mable Barham Furgerson, 97, of Matoaca, finished her long journey on Earth at Lucy Corr Assisted Living in Chesterfield, and was welcomed home by her Heavenly Father on April 12, 2010. She was the daughter of the late Abram T. and Mertie Smith Minton, and the widow of Iredell Barham and Wilson Furgerson. She was preceded in death by her 4 siblings, and her beloved twin, Myrtle Moore. Mrs. Furgerson was a member of Matoaca United Methodist Church where she taught an adult Sunday school class for many years and was a retired LPN. She is survived by a son, Charles T. Barham Sr. (Barbara) of Colonial Heights; a daughter, Barbara B. Rowlett (Remmie) of Chester; grandchildren, Col Chuck Barham (Valerie) of Tampa, Florida, Chris Barham (Pam) of Chester, Tami Gibbs (Dave) of Colonial Heights, and Randy Rowlett (Wanda) of Chesterfield; great-grandchildren, Amy and Ashley Gibbs, Samantha Barham, Rachel and Matt Rowlett; three step-great-grandchildren; three step-great-great-grandchildren; and three nieces. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 15, 2010 at Matoaca United Methodist Church, 6301 River Road, Matoaca, Virginia 23803 with Reverend Jo Ellen Hetherington officiating. Interment will follow in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at church.
