Macy Maitland

Macy Lee Maitland, 83 of Colonial Heights, passed away Sunday, January 21, 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents Commodore and Katherine Maitland. Macy is survived by his wife of 65 years Joan L. Maitland; three children Barry J. Maitland (Marlena), Kim Amabile (Andy), and Tammy Wells (Spanky); six grandchildren; and many loving nieces, nephews, and friends, especially a close family friend Elsa Boykin. Macy worked for the United States Postal Service in Colonial Heights for 37 years. He was a passionate Washington Redskins fan and loved to bowl. Macy enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sporting events. After retirement he became passionate about taking care of his yard and spending time outdoors. What Macy loved to do more than anything was spend time with his wife Joan. They would often go out to get dessert and drink sweet tea. In his later years he became Joan's caretaker and was devoted to her well-being until the day he passed. Macy will be deeply and greatly missed by his family and friends. A memorial service will be held 3p.m. Thursday, January 25, 2018 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory 2033 Boulevard Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834.
