Margaret Clements

Margaret Nash Jacobs Clements, 94, the widow of Colonel Thomas Howard Clements, US Army Retired, passed away on Thursday, October 4, 2012 at Dunlop House in Colonial Heights, Virginia, the daughter of Robert Lester and Elizabeth Rachel Nash Jacobs. She was the last surviving of twelve siblings. She graduated from Hopewell High School and worked briefly as a bookkeeper. Following her marriage, she began a life as an Army Wife, setting up twenty-six loving homes in the Panama Canal Zone, the Philippine Islands and West Germany, as well as in the United States. She was known for her fine needlework, making quilts for each of her daughters and grandchildren. A woman of strong Christian faith, she, with her husband became Founding Members of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, which she faithfully served until physical infirmities limited her. She spent her last years in Dunlop House Assisted Living, where she was lovingly cared for. Mrs. Clements is survived by her daughters, Margaret Elaine, wife of Donald R. Gardner of Chester, VA., Sandra Lee, wife of William Fedorochko, Jr. of Spotsylvania, VA., and Marsha Ann, wife of Dennis T. Linkous of Kill Devil Hills, NC; her five grandchildren, Lisa Gardner O'Connor, of Albany, GA., Thomas Howard Clements Gardner of Elizabeth City, NC, Sharon Fedorochko Iskra, of Charleston, WV, Bennie Cozzens Smith II, of Richmond, VA, and Rachel Smith VonGarrel of Smithsburg, MD; eight great-grandchildren, three sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Monday, October 8, 2012 with The Reverend Doctor Andy Brockelman officiating, at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, 3110 Greenwood Ave., Colonial Heights, VA. A private burial will be held at the Quantico National Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the E. Alvin Small Funeral Home in Colonial Heights on Sunday, October 7 from 3:00-4:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Seniors Ministry, Mount Pleasant Baptist Church.
