Born April 22, 1918 to the late Theodore Leith Gordon and Lilly Wynne McDowell Gordon in Raleigh, N.C. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Stephen J. Cope, Major, USAF, Ret, and devoted daughter, Pamela Wynne Cope; sisters, Frances G. Winner, and Anne G. Poindexter; a brother, Theodore L. Gordon. Mrs. Cope is survived by a son-in-law, Arthur W. Ritter; a niece, Cheri W. Browder and husband Wayne and family of Colonial Heights, and several other nieces and nephews. Peggy, as she was known by all, was a member of the Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church (until Alzheimers claimed her memory) where she served faithfully, especially in the choir. Those who knew her will never forget her beautiful voice and her love of music. We would like to thank her caregivers from Colonial Heights Health Rehabilitation Care, Dunlop House, and Hospice of Central Virginia for all their loving care. Honoring her request, burial will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Virginia, Alzheimer's Association, the American Cancer Society, or the Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church. Arrangements by the Colonial Heights chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory.
