Margaret Archer Hope, 90, passed away on Thursday, October 15, 2015. A lifelong resident of Colonial Heights, she was the daughter of the late John and Ella Archer and the widow of Everett Fleming Hope. She was predeceased by a brother, John Archer, Jr., and a sister, Louise Chambers. Margaret worked for DuPont during WWII and was later employed with J.C. Penney at Walnut Mall in Petersburg. A past member of the Violet Bank Garden Club, she also volunteered at The Twig Shop at the former Petersburg General Hospital and at the American Red Cross Bloodmobile for many years. She cherished her summer beach trips with her daughter and granddaughters. Margaret is survived by a daughter, Janice H. Vaughn; son-in-law, Thomas L. Vaughn of Colonial Heights; granddaughters, Valerie Vaughn of Richmond, Stephanie V. Barringer and her husband, John Barringer III of Destin, Florida; great-grandson, Jack Archer Barringer; sisters, Mary Grotz and Ruth Stuckey; brother, William Archer, all of Colonial Heights, and numerous nieces and nephews. A private family service will be held at Blandford Cemetery in Petersburg. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to a charity of your choice. Condolences may be registered at www.ealvinsmall.com.
