Maria M. Cleveland, 84, of Petersburg, passed away on Thursday, October 31, 2013 at Southside Regional Medical Center surrounded by her family. Born in Karlovy Vary (Karlsbad), Czechoslovakia, she was the daughter of the late Anton and Leontine Proksch Schoeneck. Mrs. Cleveland was preceded in death by her husband, Harry W. Cleveland and a brother, Johann Schoeneck. She was a member of the German Damen Club, Colonial Heights. She is survived by a daughter, Barbara C. Ivey and husband, Chester of Emporia; a son, John A. Cleveland and wife, Cathi of S. Prince George; grandchildren, Melissa I. Williams and husband, Clint of Chesterfield, Michael Ivey and wife, Gina of Henrico, and Lisa A. Cleveland of S. Prince George; great-grandchildren, Sydney & Erin Williams and Jagger Ivey; a sister-in-law, Adele Schoeneck of Mayfield, Kentucky; a niece, Heidi Peller and her family; a nephew, John Schoeneck and his family. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 5, 2013 in the Petersburg Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 3935 S. Crater Road, with the Reverend Joe Elmore officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
