Maria W. Minton, 83, of Colonial Heights, passed away on Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at Henrico Doctor's Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Johann and Helen Bogner Wals, and was preceded in death by her sisters, Helen Fré�lich, Annie Kirchinger, and Tillie Kirchinger. Mrs. Minton was a member of the Women of the Moose, and served as Senior Regent from 1980-1981. Maria was a very loving, gracious mother and a friend to many. She never met a stranger, was willing to lend a hand in times of need, and will be greatly missed for her love and care to her family and many friends. She is survived by her husband, George Minton Jr.; a son, Walter John Minton and wife, Kimberly of Prince George; a daughter, Leigh Dicks of Henrico; six grandchildren, Trey Arnold, Christy Williamson and husband, Stuart, Amber Duryee and husband, George, Adam & Austin Minton, and Sarah Fitch; four great-grandchildren, Emma & Penelope Williamson, George Jr. & Zachery Duryee; several nieces and nephews in Germany. A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 11, 2010 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard. Interment to follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George. The family will receive friends from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
