Marian Marguerite Vineyard, 81, of Chester, died on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 surrounded by her children. She was preceded in death by her parents Walter and Flossie Vineyard, her brother Jack, her husband of 57 years Otis Martin, son Perry, and grandson Joseph. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne and Renée, Kenneth and Janet, Mark, Kevin and Letitia, and Dean and Leona of Chesterfield, and her daughter Kristie Martin and son-in-law Stevan Pullins of Huntington, W. Va.; grandchildren, Tony, Michael, Elaine, Adam, Sean, Connor, Alicia and Evan Martin; great-grandchildren, Kelti and Kane Martin; brother-in-law, Don and his wife Judy Martin; and many other friends and family members. A graduate of John Marshall High School, Marian declined an art scholarship to Sweet Briar College to help her parents. She later dedicated herself to raising a large family, to assisting her elderly mother-in-law with all of her routine tasks, and to the care of Otis through lengthy illness. Through her greatest challenges and even in her final days, she continued to greet every visitor with a smile and twinkle in her eye-more concerned with their feelings and comfort than anything else. Her painting and writing embodied her love and appreciation of all life, the depth of her character, and the tenacity of her will to live life to its fullest. The personal sacrifices she made for her family throughout her life will always be remembered and appreciated. A funeral service will be held Friday, July 31, 2015, 11 a.m. graveside at Sunset Memorial Park, Chester. Condolences may be registered at www.ealvinsmall.com.
