Marian Veazey

Marian Nelson Veazey, 87, of Petersburg, died on Thursday, April 12, 2012 at her residence. Born in Townsville, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Edwin Rosser and Thelma Hunt Nelson. Mrs. Veazey was a retired Civil Service employee after thirty-seven years of service in finance and accounting, and the D.I.O. Stock Fund office at Fort Lee. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Colonial Heights. She is survived by a son, Phillip Scott Veazey of Pensacola, Florida; a daughter, Janet Veazey Sandford and husband, Charles Edward "Eddie" of Chester; three grandchildren, Jeffrey Scott Sandford, Bryan Edwin Sandford and wife, Brandy and Angela Sandford O'Keefe and husband, Sean; five great grandchildren; one sister, Mary Jo Brantley of Colonial Heights; numerous nieces and nephews. A special "Thank You" to: Linda, Mary, Chris and Rose for all of the loving care they provided so Marian could be at home with her loving family. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 16, 2012 in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg with the Reverend Fred Adkins officiating. The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Sunday at the Petersburg Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 3935 S. Crater Road.
