Marie Collier Martin, 89, of Colonial Heights, passed away Wednesday, April 18, 2012. She was the daughter of the late Nathaniel M. Collier Sr., and Mettie Pulley Collier and was preceded in death by brothers, James C. Collier, and Charles F. Collier; sisters, Grace O'Donnell, Catherine Hogwood, Sadie Brittingham, Elva Magee, and Virginia Boisseau. Ms. Martin was a member of Ettrick United Methodist Church where she served as the church secretary for many years. Survivors include her brother, Nathaniel M. Collier Jr., of Colonial Heights; nieces, Ellen B. Kirk of Georgia, Vicki B. Minetree and husband, Harold of Colonial Heights, Jennie Brockwell and husband, Ben of Matoaca, Nathaniel "Nat" Collier and wife, LuAnn of Dinwiddie; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 21, 2012 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory 2033 Boulevard with the Reverend Robert Lamb and the Reverend Jimmy Blankenship officiating. Interment Blandford Cemetery Petersburg, Virginia. The family will receive friends Friday, April 20, 2012 from 7-8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
