Marie Thrailkill Smith, 95, of Colonial Heights, Virginia passed away Monday, October 8, 2018. She was born in Wake County, North Carolina to the late Normie and Elsie Thrailkill and was a member of Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry George "Hank" Smith III; brother, William J. Thrailkill; sister, Doris T. Lemons; and son-in-law, Thomas B. Bolton. She is survived by her daughters Bonny S. Hartle (Gary) of Chester, and LeAnne S. Bolton of Colonial Heights; son, Henry G. Smith IV of Richmond; grandsons, Frederic L. Boisseau (Ginger), Joseph E. Boisseau, Gary Hartle, Jr. (Jackie), Earle Hartle (Sandy); granddaughters, Hannah B. Bolton, and Emma T. Bolton; seven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and two special cousins, Margie Boone and Lula Mae Bryant of Pittsboro, North Carolina. Marie worked in the Circulation Department of the Progress Index for many years and worked as a Teachers Aide for Mount Pleasant Baptist Church Daycare for over 30 years. She always looked forward to her annual fishing trips with her cousins, and loved basketball, children, playing bridge, and the smell of gardenias. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church, 211 Lynchburg Avenue, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834, followed by a funeral service at 12 p.m. with Reverend Gordon Mapes III officiating.
