Marjorie Deas

Marjorie Lee Deas, born January 30, 1934 to Almond West and Lillian Young in Rockfish, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 1, 2022. Marjorie is preceded in death by her daughter, Cynthia Gibson; son, Jeptha Archie Gibson III; brothers, Dexter West and Sherill West.

She is survived by son, James Gibson of Maine and wife, Cindy; daughter, Mary E. Harper of Virginia and husband Danny; son, Joseph Gibson of Virginia, as well as daughter-in-law, Linda Gibson. She is also survived by her loving sister, Elizabeth Knapp and lifelong best friend, Addie Mae Gore. Marjorie (Mamaw) leaves behind quite the legacy with 15 grandkids, 41 great grandkids, and 17 great great grandkids, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and companion grandpup, Sam.

It is impossible to sum up such an amazing woman in just a few short lines. Marjorie was a hardworking, dedicated, selfless, loving mother and Mamaw, as well as a caring and loyal friend. She was the strongest woman we knew, and her presence will be greatly missed.

We will be honoring her life on Thursday, January 13, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Smalls Funeral Home, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, 1911 Birdsong Road, S. Prince George, Virginia 23805.
