Marjorie James

August 3, 1924 — April 20, 2018

Marjorie J. James, 93, of Colonial Heights passed away on Friday, April 20, 2018. Born August 3, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Richard Claudius Jeffries, Sr. and Rosa Jenkins Jeffries, and was also preceded in death by her husband, Allen P. James, Jr.; brother, Claudius Jeffries.; sister, Dolores J. Kinton; and son-in-law, Marshall C. Thompson. For many years, Marjorie was a member of Swift Creek Baptist Church, and was retired from Bank of America. She had a sweet personality, a compassionate heart and was the most fun person in any room, as her contagious sense of humor was unparalleled. She was an instigator of laughter and a lover of music and live stage productions. Above all, she will always be cherished for her devotion to family and being most influential in her children becoming Christians. She will live on in our hearts and habits forever. Marjorie is survived by her daughters, Susan J. Thompson of Chesterfield, Cathy A. Fisher and husband, Daniel of Chesterfield, Cynthia M. James and devoted boyfriend, Eddie Bruce of Chesterfield; grandchildren, Jeffrey M. Thompson of Arlington, Mark P. Thompson and wife, Ashley of Midlothian, Sarah Tallakson and husband, Eric of Richmond, Eric D. Fisher of Chesterfield; and two great-grandchildren, Liam P. Thompson and Scarlett G. Thompson of Midlothian. Marjorie's family would like to extend a special thank you to her caregiver, Emma Dennis, for her love and devotion. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, April 23, 2018 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, with the Reverend James H.
