Mark Douglas "Coach" Bryan, 60, formerly of Mechanicsville, currently of Colonial Heights, passed away Saturday, September 8, 2012 at his residence. Mark graduated from the University of Richmond with a Master's Degree in Physical Education. He was a faculty member at Richard Bland College for over 20 years as a professor and was currently the athletic director at Richard Bland College. He was also a faculty member at John Tyler Community College as a professor. He was an avid softball player until the last month of his life. Mark loved coaching and refereeing basketball. Mark is survived by his wife Jacqueline Ann Bryan; son, Matthew James Bryan of Richmond; daughter, Randi Denise Bryan of Williamsburg; mother and father, Douglas F. and Juanita Edwards Bryan of Mechanicsville; the mother of his children, Diana U. Iannuzzi of Williamsburg; sister, Dianne B. Klopp and husband Brian of Mechanicsville; nephew, Bryan L. Garbett and wife Sarah of Richmond; nieces, Lisa D. Klopp and Lauren D. Klopp of Mechanicsville; a special uncle, Junie Bryan, devoted friends Oscar Giles, Jackie Bostain, Jay Tignor, and Phil Faircloth; and devoted pets Mickey, Priss, and Rowdy. The family would like to thank Dr. Weiss and staff at UVA Cancer Center and Crater Community Hospice. A special thanks to LeAnn Binger for her devoted help to our family. A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 12, 2012 in the Richard Bland College Gymnasium 11301 Johnson Road, Petersburg, Virginia 23805 with Dr. James B. McNeer officiating. Interment Private. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Mark Bryan Scholarship Fund at Richard Bland College. Arrangements are being handled by the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory 2033 Boulevard.
