Mark Stuart Hawkins, 47, of Richmond, formerly of Colonial Heights, passed away April 24, 2011 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was a master stonemason in the Richmond Tri-cities area. He was predeceased by a brother, Matt Hawkins, grandmothers, Elva Ruddick and Mary Hawkins. He is survived by his wife, Lynn C. Douglas of Richmond; parents, Frank and Jane Hawkins of Colonial Heights; brother, Mike Hawkins (Cindy) of Jacksonville, Florida; a very devoted sister, Shelley (Rick) Heuermann of Colonial Heights; two daughters, Cherie Bates (Brad) and Nichole Evans both of South Carolina; three grandchildren, Anthony Szari, Rhlyee and Braeden Bates; four nieces, Tara H. Airhart (Jonathan), Casey Hawkins, Nicole and Taylor Douglas; four nephews, Andrew, Adam, Michael and Christopher Hawkins; special brother and sisters-in-law, Edward S. Douglas and Diane H. Douglas of Richmond and Kathy Lee; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and many special friends. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 28, 2011 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard with the Reverend Lewis E. Brown officiating. Interment will be held at 3:30 p.m. Thursday in Cut Banks Baptist Church Cemetery, 24203 Cutbank Road, McKenney, Virginia.
