Mark Leo Murphy, 47, of Colonial Heights, passed away on Monday, May 23, 2011 at his residence. Mr. Murphy was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the Sons of the Confederacy, the Sons of the American Revolution, and was an ASA Softball Commissioner for the Richmond/Tri Cities area. He is survived by his mother and father, Myrtle Long Jackson and Kenneth W. Jackson of Colonial Heights; two brothers, Bobby S. Murphy and wife, Crystal, and Johnnie G. Murphy and wife, Valerie all of Houston, Texas; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great-nephews, and cousins. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 28, 2011 in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Colonial Heights, Ward, 501 Compton Road, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834 with Bishop Bruce Dove officiating. Interment will be private. Flowers are welcome or contributions may be made to the Humanitarian Fund at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Colonial Heights Ward.
