Marshall Charles Thompson, 62, of Chesterfield passed away on Monday, February 3, 2014 at Georgetown University Medical Center. Born in Hopewell, he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Elroy Thompson. He was a member of Branch's Baptist Church, Richmond and was currently employed with Loveland Distributors for 36 years. Mr. Thompson was a United States Army veteran having served during the Vietnam War, and a recipient of the Purple Heart. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Susan James Thompson; sons, Jeffrey Marshall Thompson of Arlington and Mark Preston Thompson and wife, Ashley of Chesterfield; two grandchildren, Liam Preston Thompson and Scarlett Gray Thompson; and his mother-in-law, Marjorie Jeffries James of Colonial Heights. Marshall was a man who understood that simplicity is a virtue, honesty is paramount and that working hard for your family is a life well lived. He will live on in our hearts forever. The funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 7, 2014 for a graveside service to be held at 11:00 a.m. in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George with the Reverend James Blankenship officiating.
