Martha Lewis Burton "Memaw" 81 of Chesterfield died Sunday January 17, 2010 at her residence. She was the daughter of the late Charles Carrington and Gladys Seabright Lewis and was preceded in death by her husband James Alexander Burton Sr., a son Charles Rudy Burton, brother Charles Edward Lewis, and a sister Olive Elizabeth Bush. Martha was a member of Matoaca Christian Fellowship, Chesterfield Home Demonstration Club, Woodpecker Community Grange Association, Chesterfield 4-H Club and the Happy Woodpeckers. She was an avid outdoor Gardener. Martha is survived by her children; Nancy B. Humphries of Chesterfield, Linda B. Waguespack and husband; Michael A. of Chesterfield, James A Burton Jr., and wife; April L. of Chesterfield, Susan B. Raines and husband; E. Alex of Chesterfield, seven grandchildren; Christina Lessard, John Humphries, James Humphries, Jennifer Thomas, James A. Burton III., Lauren Searles, William T. Burton, fifteen great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, one brother Leonard L. Lewis and wife Barbara of Colonial Heights, numerous nieces and nephews. Martha was the oldest member of Matoaca Christian Fellowship Church and was affectionately known as Memaw to all. A funeral service will take place 11:00 a.m. Wednesday January 20, 2010 at Matoaca Christian Fellowship Church 7700 River Road Petersburg, Virginia 23803 with the Pastor Ryan Atchison officiating. Interment Blandford Cemetery Petersburg, Virginia. The family will receive friends Tuesday January 19, 2010 from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E.
