Martha Louise Carterette Good, 86, of Colonial Heights, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 following an extended period of illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Oscar Carterette; and her two sisters, Irene Mann and Virginia Williams; and a brother in-law, Donald Ruxton. She was a founding member of St Michael's Episcopal Church in Colonial Heights. During her life she was involved in the Literacy Council of Virginia, and served as a Hospice volunteer. In her later years she enjoyed knitting scarves for the homeless, caps for newborns and cancer patients. Mrs. Good is survived by her husband of 68 years, Richard (Dick) Markwood Good; and their three children, Ellen Kelly and husband R.P. of Raleigh, N.C., Barbara Hearn and husband, Steven of Chesterfield, and Richard Markwood Good Jr. of Colonial Heights; grandchildren, Scott Launer of Mebane , N.C., Amy Grieco and husband, Jeff of Dinwiddie, Cary Cannon and husband, Robbie of Colonial Heights, Beth Sadler and husband, T.J. of Chesterfield, and Richard (Trey) Markwood Good III; eight great-grandchildren, Laura Cannon, Cade Cannon, Mckenna Grieco, Cole Cannon, Dylan Hughes, Brennan Grieco, Tucker Grieco and Hudson Sadler; and her beloved brother in-law, Wilfred Mann; and niece, Louise Mann. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of the 5th floor of Southside Regional Medical Center and Hospice for their caring support. Also a special thank you to Jenny Elder, for her compassion, caring and support to the family. There will be a private Memorial Service for the family.
