Martha Slater

Martha C. Slater 82, of Colonial Heights, passed away Sunday, December 19, 2010 at her residence. She was the daughter of the late George R. and Elsie Harrison Chambliss and was the widow of Theodore Roettger Slater. Mrs. Slater was a member of Highland United Methodist Church, the Colonial Heights Senior Citizens Club and was a tutor at North Elementary School in Colonial Heights. She is survived by her children, Theodore Roettger Slater Jr., and wife, Wendy of Arizona, Catherine S. Bailey and husband, Jimmy of Disputanta, Richard Lee Slater and wife Diana of California, Martha Elizabeth "Beth" Slater of Disputanta; five grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; one cousin, Anne Titmus of Matoaca. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 23, 2010 at Bermuda Memorial Park Enon, Virginia with the Reverend Keith Richie officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday December 22, 2010 from 6-8:00 p.m. at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory 2033 Boulevard.
