Martha Hammond Woolfolk, 85, of Colonial Heights passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, April 2, 2016. She was born September 19, 1930 to the late William Harvey Hammond, Sr., and Minnie Clanton Harrison Hammond. Mrs. Woolfolk was the widow of William F. Woolfolk Jr. and was also preceded in death by two brothers, William H. Hammond, Jr. and Gene H. Hammond, Sr.; and a sister, Frances H. Williams. She was a lifetime member of Highland United Methodist Church in Colonial Heights, where she taught 1st grade Sunday school, and was a secretary for the former Brown & Williamson Tobacco Company. Mrs. Woolfolk is survived by two daughters, Patricia A. Woolfolk and Cindy W. Pond and husband, A. Wright Pond, Sr.; step-grandchildren, Lee Ann Pond Wilson, Ashton W. Pond, Jr., and wife Leah; step great-grandchildren, Jake Wilson, Abbey Wilson and Arden Pond; sister in-law, Florence Hammond; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, VA 23834, with the Reverend Dr. Dorothy O'Quinn and the Reverend William Rawlings officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, South Prince George, Virginia. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
