Marvin Fulton Hogue, 86, of Colonial Heights, Virginia, left this world to enter into Heaven on Tuesday, October 31, 2023. He died peacefully at home. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife of 57 years, Katherine Hogue. He was also preceded in death by his mother, Viola Allen; his stepfather, Louis Allen; his father, Henry Hogue; his half-brother, Henry Hogue; his grandson, Jonathan Peters; and his great- grandson, Daniel Melton. He is survived by his three daughters, Marcia Peters (Steve), Laura Wade (Ken), and Stephanie Zahringer (Jim); and his grandchildren Angela Callahan (Dave), Jackie Beiter (Jason), Sean Peters (Catherine), Tiffany Sand (Justin), Mary Katherine Pierson (Aaron), Brittany Denny (Gregory), Chad Melton (Chelsea), Jeremy Zahringer (Lindsey), Tyler Wade (Gracie), William Melton, and Alexa Zahringer. He also leaves behind 12 great-grandchildren, plus one on the way. He also leaves behind his special friend, Charlotte Estes. Marvin was a graduate of Virginia Tech where he served in the Cadet Corps and in the Pershing Rifles. After graduation, he went on to serve his country in the United States Army as a First Lieutenant. He served his country for one year in Germany during the Berlin Crisis. After serving his country in the Army, he worked for Newport News Shipping and Dry Dock Company before returning to Petersburg where he worked for Allied Signal for 30 years as a mechanical engineer until his retirement in 1993. Marvin always prioritized his Christian faith and his family and he served as a deacon at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Colonial Heights Virginia. Marvin was an avid fan of Virginia Tech football and basketball. Words that can best describe Marvin were kind, generous, perseverant, devoted, and humble. He worked tirelessly to instill these values in his children and grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard Colonial Heights, VA 23834. A private graveside service will be held by the family. Condolences may be registered at www.ealvinsmall.com.
