On Thursday, December 29, 2011 Mary Jeannette Bowman, 62, of Colonial Heights, quietly passed into God's hands and joined her father, Jack Martin Sr.; her sister, Carol Ann Ackerman; and her brother, Michael "Micky" Perkinson, who left us only 3 months ago; and her grandmothers, Alma Jackson and Gracie Martin. Jeannette was a graduate of Colonial Heights High School and recently retired after 32 years of faithful service to the US Government working as a Contract Specialist for the Defense Logistics Agency - Aviation Services Division. She is survived by her loving mother, Iris Whelan Martin; brothers, Jack Martin and wife, Shiryl, Jeff Martin and wife, Cathy; nieces, Jennifer Vaughan and husband, Dale and Christan Martin Karys and husband, Peter; nephew, Ryan Osterbind; great nephews, Hunter Vaughan, Aidan and Andrew Karys; uncles, Harry Whelan and wife, Barbara, Richard Martin and wife, Bernice and Douglas Martin; aunt, Joyce Wolford; and many cousins, extended family, and friends. Funeral Mass will be held at 12:00 noon Wednesday, January 4, 2012 in St. Ann Catholic Church, 17111 Jefferson Davis Highway, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834, with Fr. Lou Ruoff, Celebrant. There will be a visitation and hospitality for family and friends at church following the Mass. Burial will take place at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday in Sunset Memorial Park, Chester.
