Mary Casey

Mary C. Casey, 96, passed on January 14, 2018. A native of Garfield, New Jersey, she was the daughter of John Christen and Julie H. Christen from Alsace Lorraine. She completed a Master's Degree and worked for years in the Colonial Heights school system as a teacher and guidance counselor. Prior to that she taught in New Jersey. Mary was an avid scrabble, bridge and canasta player, and competed in the National Senior Games with her late husband, Glin Casey. She was active in the book club and enjoyed reading and learning. She attended St. Ann's Church. She was active in the community and volunteered at SRMC and Cares. She enjoyed traveling with her artistic husband and friends. During her younger years, she modeled and competed in fencing. Mrs. Casey is survived by her son, Glenn and daughter, Julie as well as daughters-in-law, Ginny Van Keuren Casey and Bookie Myers Casey; grandchildren, Sarah Casey Northrop, Caroline Casey Leroy, Kara Casey and Jackson White as well as great grandchildren, Liam, Emma and Abby, Jayden and Caleb. A Memorial Mass will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 24, 2018 at St. Ann Catholic 17111 Jefferson Davis Hwy, South Chesterfield, VA 23834. Interment will be Private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Emergency Medical Services of Colonial Heights. Arrangements were handled by the Colonial Heights Chapel of E.
