Mary Garner

Mary Joyce Garner, 85, of Petersburg, VA passed away on March 29, 2016 at her residence. Born on November, 26, 1930 she was the daughter of the late Bernie and Mary Irene Smith Sanford; and was also preceded in death by her loving husband, William Harold Garner; a son, Timothy Harold Garner; one daughter, Barbara Gail Garner; and a sister, Debbie Sanford. Mrs. Garner is survived by her son, William O. Garner; a daughter, Susan G. Rogerson; eight grandchildren, Lisa Whelan and husband, Chris, Joseph and Jason Rogerson, Melissa Garner, Patricia Mikesell and husband, Adam, Lyndsay O'Connor and husband, Ryan, Devyn Taylor and husband, Sam and Jacob Garner; seven great-grandchildren, Courtney, Hailee, Nate, Landon, Avery, Elysia and Charlotte; a sister, Joanne Fralic and husband, Larry; one brother, Phil Sanford and wife, Elizabeth; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, VA 23834. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George, VA. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, April 4, 2016 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Colonial Heights SPCA in memory of Mary.
