Mary Gibbs

Mary Johnson Gibbs, 97, of Matoaca passed away on Friday, June 17, 2016 at Colonial Heights Health Care. Born on March 8, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Olie and Alma Johnson, and was also preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Gibbs; and son, Bruce W. Gibbs. Mary was a member of Matoaca Baptist Church. She is survived by her son, John L. Gibbs of Matoaca, Virginia; daughters, Mary R. Blaquiere of Powhatan, Virginia, June Joyner of Matoaca, Virginia, Sharon G. Starke of Prince George, Virginia; eleven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; sisters, Virginia Brooks of Dinwiddie, Virginia, Dorothy May Johnson of Chesterfield, Virginia; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff at Colonial Heights Health Care for their extraordinary care of Mrs. Gibbs during her stay there. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 in East Matoaca Cemetery with the Reverend Carl Weaver officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday night, June 21, 2016 from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes, 2033 Boulevard.
