Mary Alice Guthrie, 77, of Dinwiddie County, passed away on Sunday, August 22, 2021.
She was born on October 17, 1943 in Sutherland, Virginia to the late James Oliver and Mildred Davis Williams, and was preceded in death by her siblings, Wilbur Williams, James Randolph Williams, John Albert Williams, Thomas Williams, Kitty Wright, and Rebecca Ponder.
Mary Alice was a member of Ocran United Methodist Church, having joined the church as a child on August 22, 1954. She graduated from Midway High School in 1962 and became a Radiologic Technologist after graduating from the Petersburg General X-Ray School in 1964. For the last 59 years, Mary Alice has continued working for Petersburg General, Southside Regional Medical Center, and now Bon Secours Southside Medical Center. For those that knew Mary best, her dedication to her work and caring for her patients and coworkers was the essence of who she was. Her proudest achievement, however, was her three daughters and eight grandchildren, who she bragged about on a regular basis. She was a proud mom and a proud GaGa.
Mary Alice is survived by her three daughters, Kimberly Allen (Terry), Johnna Mitterer (Mark), and Ashley Marsee (Sam); her beloved grandchildren, Zachary Allen, Lucas Allen (fiancée Jessi), Olivia Allen, Sophia Allen, Alicen Mitterer, Emily Mitterer, Brody Marsee and Jaxon Marsee; her sister, Mildred Louise Dayvault; numerous nieces, nephews, other extended family; and her second family at Southside Medical Center.
