Mary Hearn

August 13, 1925 — June 30, 2017

Mary Anna Hearn, 91, passed away at her home in Colonial Heights, Virginia on Friday, June 30, 2017. Born to the late Oscar Lee and Lillian Gertrude "Gertie" Ford Watkins, Mary was also preceded in death by her loving husband of over 60 years, Robert Elmer "Bob" Hearn; her son, Robert Barry Hearn; her sisters, Lillian Belle "Sweets" Floyd and Ella Virginia Daulton; and her brothers, Eddie Lee Watkins and Oscar McIlwaine "Mac" Watkins. Ann worked as a nurse for over 30 years and was very dedicated to her Sunday school classes at the Heights Baptist Church in Colonial Heights. She is survived by her son, Steven Hearn and his wife, Barbara; a sister, Louise Watkins Smith and her husband, Ralph Smith; granddaughters, Amy Grieco and her husband, Jeff Grieco, Cary Mitchell and her husband, Roger Mitchell, Beth Sadler and her husband, T.J. Sadler; nine great-grandchildren, Mckenna, Brenna, Tucker, Laura, Cade, Cole, Dylan, Hudson, and Braxton; as well as four nephews, with a special appreciation for her nephew, Thomas Floyd, for his constant attention and care. A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 7, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. in Southlawn Memorial Park 1911 Birdsong Road, South Prince George, Virginia 23805 with the Reverend Ronnie West officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 6, 2017, between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be offered to Crater Community Hospice, 3916 South Crater Road, Petersburg, Virginia 23805. Condolences may be registered at www.ealvinsmall.com.
