Mary Holt

Mary Lou Holt, 69, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2017, at her home in Prince George, Virginia. Mary Lou was born September 7, 1947, a daughter of the late Malcolm and Draxie Stephens. During her early life, she overcame many obstacles and experiences that taught her about herself and the woman she wanted to be. On October 4, 1975, she took a leap of faith and flew from her hometown in Ironton, Ohio to Richmond, Virginia to meet a man who would become her world. Twenty days later, October 24, 1975, they were married. Mary Lou worked for Prince George County Food Service for more than twenty years. Mary Lou was preceded in death by her brothers, Edgar, Frank, Douglas, and Jack Stephens; and two amazing sisters, Helen Nelson and Eleanor Moore. Mary is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, Earl Fenton Holt; her four daughters, Rebecca McBride and husband, Carl, Sarah Hoffer and husband, Phillip, Cynthia Holt Harris, and Betty Jean Fields. She was blessed with eight grandchildren, Christina and husband Wayne, Brandy, Blake, Trey, Caitlin, Danny, Noah, Madison, and one great-granddaughter, Jillian. There were also many loved ones and special friends she loved dearly, Tana and Bill Klaiber, Tommy Fields, Charlie Dalton, and Freddie Dalton. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 5, 2017, at the Crater Road Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 3935 S. Crater Road, Petersburg, Virginia 23805 with the Reverend Robert Livesay, III. officiating. A graveside service will follow in Waverly Cemetery, Waverly Virginia, at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, June 5, 2017. The family will receive friends Sunday, June 4, 2017, from 3:00-4:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Flowers are welcome and contributions may also be made to the Colonial Heights SPCA or Oakland Baptist Church, 12601 Prince George Dr., Disputanta, Virginia 23842.
