Mary Payne

Mary E. Payne, 84, of Colonial Heights, passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at Southside Regional Medical Center. She was the daughter of the late Harry E. Richardson Sr. and Edna Hunt Richardson. Mary was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, and was a retired Teaching Assistant for the Chesterfield County School System. She is survived by her loving husband, Ernest E. Payne; a son, Philip Steven Payne and wife, Mary Ruth of Charlotte, North Carolina; two daughters, Laura Lynn Payne-Ballard and husband, Charles of Richmond, and Nancy Allison Payne-Van Fossen and husband, Robert of Richmond; grandchildren, Paul and Alison Ballard of Richmond, Alan Shaw and wife, Tiffany of Roanoke, Virginia, Holly Withers and husband, Thornton of Charlotte, North Carolina; and great-grandchildren, Benjamin Thompson, Henry Thompson, Lauren Thompson, Allison, Grant, Wyatt and Meredith Shaw. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 3, 2014 at Immanuel Baptist Church, 620 Lafayette Ave., Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834 with the Reverend Fred Adkins officiating. Interment to follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Chester. The family will receive friends from 3 to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 2, 2014 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E.
