Mary Poe

Mary Huller Poe passed away on Thursday, December 20, 2018. She was the daughter of the late Herman L. and Mable B. Huller. Mrs. Poe was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald F. Poe; two step-sons, Ronald F. Poe Jr. and Robert Eugene Poe; and four brothers, Alfred Huller, Lawrence T. Huller, Vernon W. Huller and John A. "Scooter" Huller. She was originally from Newport News, and graduated from Newport News High School, class of 1947. She was a member of the Jr. Women's Club and worked in the Newport News Ship Building & Dry Dock in the plant engineer's department. She worked for the First National Bank and transferred to the tri-cities area to Petersburg Savings & American Trust; and through many acquisitions, retired in 1992 from Wachovia in Hopewell after 35 years in banking. She is survived by a son, Jeffrey L. Hamilton (Sheri); step-sons, Michael and David A. Poe; grandson, Kennon Ball; and 9 step-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, December 22, 2018 in Southlawn Memorial Park, 1911 Birdsong Road, S. Prince George, Virginia 23805. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. Saturday at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834, with the funeral procession leaving at 1:45 p.m. from the funeral home.
