Mary Edith (Martin) Schneider, 73, of Dinwiddie, entered into eternal life on August 14, 2009 at McGuire Veterans Hospital, Hospice Unit, Richmond, Virginia. She was the daughter of the late Dr. Joseph E. Martin Jr. and Mrs. Rose G. Martin of Elkins, West Virginia. She was preceded in death by her husband, Master Sgt. Edward J. Schneider, infant son, Michael John Schneider, and daughter, Jane Ann Schneider. She was also preceded in death by her natural mother, Mrs. Leona Alberta (Nieding) Martin. Mrs. Schneider was born in Maretta, Ohio, on December 22, 1935. She graduated from Elkins High School in 1953. She served in the U.S. Woman's Army Corps from 1955 to 1961. She received an Associate of Science Degree, from Lassen Junior College, Susanville, California in 1980. Mrs. Schneider worked as a Contract Security Officer from 1991 -2001 for both AlliedSignal (Hopewell) and DuPont Fibers (Chester). She was recently retired from production work at PreCon Inc. (Chester). She is survived by her daughter, Maggi Schneider Brinkley and husband, Chip of Hopewell; her twin sister, Jane Jesson and husband, Jess of Enterprise, Alabama; brothers, Joseph E. Martin and wife, Sarah, John S. Martin and Hope Rierson all of Elkins, West Virginia; sister, Barbara Johnson and husband, Gerald of Waterport, New York; nieces and nephews, J. R. Jesson, Leah Wilson, Abby Martin, Colleen Thompson, Michael Sullivan, and Todd Plymale; great-grandchildren, Jonathan Brinkley, Katherine Dean, James Brinkley Jr., Thomas Brinkley, and Nathan Brinkley. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. Friday, August 21, 2009 in St. Ann Catholic Church, 17111 Jefferson Davis Highway, Colonial Heights with Fr. Lou Ruoff, Celebrant. Interment will take place 1:00 p.m. Friday at Quantico National Cemetery, Triangle, Virginia. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard. Condolences may be registered at www.ealvinsmall.com.
