Mary Smith

Mary Rachel Smith, 85, of Matoaca, passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at the Colonial Heights Health Care Center. She was born July 3, 1929 to the late Samuel R. Mann Sr. and Mary Porter Mann, and was preceded in death by a son, Jeffery Smith. Mrs. Smith was a member of Matoaca Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, Robert E. Smith; daughter, Sue S. Marsee of Chesterfield; son, James E. Smith and wife, Julie of Chesterfield; four grandchildren, Paul Marsee and wife, Betsy, Sam Marsee and wife, Ashley, Allyson Smith and Emily Smith; four great-grandchildren, Bryce, Bennett, Brody and Jaxon Marsee, and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, April 19, 2015 at Matoaca Baptist Church, 6409 River Road, S. Chesterfield, Virginia 23803 with the Reverend Donald Joyner officiating. Interment will follow in East Matoaca Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Sunday, April 19, 2015 prior to the service at the church.
