Mary West

Mary Petrie West, 80, passed away June 4, 2016, in Richmond, VA. Born in New York, NY, she was the daughter of the late David W. Petrie and Mary Allen Cunningham Petrie. Mary graduated from Petersburg High School and attended the College of William & Mary. After living in Florida for several years, she again became a longtime resident of Petersburg in the 1980s, but her heart and soul always remained in Florida. In prior years, she had been an active member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, the organizations of the DAR and the UDC, and greatly enjoyed playing bingo. Mary is survived by her daughters, Cynthia Loving (Mike) of Richmond, VA; Susan West Cook (Brad) of Ocean Pines, MD and Laural West of Jacksonville, FL; along with grandchildren: Cynthia's son, Taylor Loving (Ashley) and a newly arriving great-grandson and Susan's children, David Olson (Kim), Eric Olson and Britt Olson. All services will be private. The family is being served by the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Home.
