Masuko Yamawake Brandt, 83, died Saturday, September 26, 2009 in Retreat Hospital, Richmond. A native of Japan, she was daughter of the late Fukutaroo Yamawake and Teruko Kobayshi Yamawake and widow of Johnnie A. Brandt. She was preceded in death by a son, Ronnie Brandt and brother Kunihiro Yamawake. She lived and raised her children in the Pembroke-Kenilworth area of Petersburg. She is survived by 10 children and their spouses, Gloria and Dale Stark of Macon, GA, Sandra Rodeback of Long Beach, CA, Alice and David Williams of Prince George, Rose and Linwood Moore of Chesterfield, Jacob Brandt of Colonial Heights, Robert and Tommi Brandt of Powhatan, Carl and Elizabeth Brandt of Colonial Heights, Thomas Brandt of Dinwiddie, Nancy Brandt of Dinwiddie, John and Beverly Brandt of Colonial Heights; 23 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Monday, September 28, 2009 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the Petersburg Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 3935 S. Crater Road. A funeral mass will be held Tuesday 10:00 a.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church, 151 W. Washington St., Petersburg. The Rev. Steve Antes will officiate. Burial will be in Southlawn Memorial Park followed by a reception in the home of Alice and David Williams.
