Mattie Williams

Mattie M. Williams, 97, of Colonial Heights, passed away on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at home. Born in Honoraville, AL, she was the daughter of the late Sam and Verbie (Mothershed) Murry. She was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, Colonial Heights, and a former member of Second Baptist Church, Petersburg. She retired from Fort Lee where she worked at Kenner Army Hospital as a Medical Supply Clerk. Prior to that she worked for C&P Telephone Co. in Petersburg. She loved flowers, fishing, and travelling. She was a dedicated worker in the church, and she loved visiting with and helping those that couldn't get out much anymore. She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, James Williams, her son, Howard Williams, and several nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Home & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard with the Reverend Wayne Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George, Virginia. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Wednesday from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
