Maurice Gayle Floyd, 84, of Colonial Heights, passed away on Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at his residence. He was the son of the late Jefferson E. and Goldie Spain Floyd, and the widower of Helen Walker Floyd. Mr. Floyd was a member of the St. Michaels Episcopal Church, Colonial Heights American Legion Post #284, Blandford Masonic Lodge #3, Scottish Rite, ACCA Temple Shrine Richmond, past Drum Major of the ACCA Oriental Band, Petersburg Fraternal Order of Eagles, Petersburg Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Ettrick Hunt Club, Matoaca Sportsman Club, and a retired PBX Repairman with C&P Telephone with 38 years of service. He is survived by two daughters, Gayle F. Miller and husband, Bob of Hopewell, and Kimberly F. Williams and husband, Dale of Colonial Heights; three grandchildren, Sara Saunders, Daniel and Hannah Roberts; a sister, Maxine F. Adams of Orlando, Florida; several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, 2012 in St. Michaels Episcopal Church, Colonial Heights, Virginia with the Reverend Tige Newell officiating. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Michaels Episcopal Church, 501 Old Town Drive, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834, or the Shriner's Hospital for Children, 950 West Faris Road, Greenville, South Carolina 29605.
