Maurice Tipton

Maurice Edward Tipton Sr., 86, of Chesterfield, passed away on Thursday July 8, 2010 at Brighter Assisted Living in Hopewell. He was the son of the late Arthur Lee and Bertha Lee Tipton and was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters. Mr. Tipton was a WW II Navy Veteran. He retired from Bulifant Insurance Company with over thirteen years of service, and was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Colonial Heights. Mr. Tipton is survived by his loving wife, of 65 years, Frances Houchins Tipton; daughter Martha Tipton Howlett of Dinwiddie; son , Maurice Edward Tipton Jr., and wife, Linda; of Roanoke Rapids, N.C. granddaughter Sarah Elizabeth Gaskill and husband, James of Garner N.C. step granddaughter, Andrea Storey; step great granddaughters, Ashley Storey, Allison Storey, Taylor Storey, Logan Storey and Ayden Turner. A funeral service will be held 11 A.M. on Monday July 12, 2010 at the Wesley United Methodist Church 3701 Conduit Road Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834, with the Reverend Dr. Donna Mott and Reverend Dr. Carol F. McCann officiating. Interment to follow at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel at the Virginia Veterans Cemetery At Amelia Cemetery, 10300 Pridesville Rd Amelia, VA 23002. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service (10- 11 A.M.) at the church.
