Mavis Medlin Carsley, 90, of Colonial Heights passed away on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at her residence. Born November 24, 1925 she was the daughter of the late John Edward and Eva Leighton Blanks Medlin, and was also preceded in death by her husband, Bernard J. Carsley and a nephew, Glenn Carsley. Mrs. Carsley was a lifetime member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Colonial Heights, and she was a retired Executive Secretary with Allied Signal (Tech Center) in Chester. She was also a volunteer for 20 years at Southside Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Carsley is survived by a daughter, Melanie G. Carsley; son, Mark K. Carsley (Mary Villeponteaux) of Colonial Heights; grandchildren, Lee Olds (Corinne), Emma Carsley, Anna Carsley; sister, Evelyn Medlin Carsley; sister in-law, Elva C. Bryant; nieces, Claire Goulder, Marlyn Green; and devoted great-nieces, nephews and other family members. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at Wesley United Methodist Church, 3701 Conduit Road, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834, with the Reverend L. Raymond McGarr officiating. Interment will follow in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg, Virginia. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 18, 2016 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the church.
