Maxine Gunnell

Maxine H. Gunnell, 87, of Chesterfield, passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2012 at Southside Regional Medical Center. Born in Clarksville, she was the daughter of the late Lee S. and Helen Jones Hicks, and the widow of Calvin Gunnell Jr. She was a member of the Swift Creek Baptist Church, and a retired Operator with Brown & Williamson Tobacco Company. She is survived by her sister, Mrs. Jane H. Buren and husband, John of Colonial Heights; two brothers, Sam L. Hicks and wife, Theresa of Dinwiddie, and Jack B. Hicks and wife, Sally of Chesterfield; and nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday January 11, 2012 in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg with the Reverend Dr. Steve Felker officiating. Her remains rest at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Swift Creek Baptist Church, Building Fund, 18510 Branders Bridge Road, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834.
