Maxine Sublett Hoover, 95, of Roanoke, Virginia passed on to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at Friendship Assisted Living in Roanoke. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Gracie Sublett of Bedford, Virginia; husband, Eugene M. Hoover; sister, Mata Mae Sublett Ussery (Warren) of Richmond, Virginia; and brothers, Harry Sublett, Jr. (Pauline) of Roanoke, and William "Billy" Sublett of West Virginia. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Colonial Heights, Virginia before moving to Roanoke, where they joined as members of Melrose Baptist Church. Maxine and her husband moved to Roanoke from Petersburg, Virginia in 1999 to be near her family. They lived in an independent apartment at Friendship Manor until Maxine was moved to Assisted Living soon after the death of her husband in 2006. Maxine retired from C&P Telephone Company after 42 years as a telephone operator and then as supervisor. She is survived by her beloved brother, Jimmy F. Sublett (Fran) of Troutville, Virginia; nephews, Stephen H. Sublett (Jeana) of Houston, Texas and Brent Sublett (Deb) of Troutville; and also, another nephew and a niece. A graveside service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at Southlawn Memorial Park, S. Prince George, Virginia. Online condolences may be registered at ealvinsmall.com.
