Melinda “Tootie” Gail Ellington, 66, of Chesterfield, Virginia, passed away on Tuesday, July 12, 2022. Born on February 19, 1956, in Petersburg, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Curtis Elmer Pritchett and Patsy Ruth Pritchett.
Before her retirement, she was a lab technician for DuPont for 37 years. Melinda loved to garden, especially tending to her flowers. She also enjoyed making candles, painting, and playing the guitar. She loved her cat and her Ford Mustang, and was especially known for her caring, unique, and “one of a kind” personality. Melinda loved spending time with her family and will be missed by all.
She is survived by her loving husband of 37 years, Robert “Gill” Ellington of Chesterfield; her daughter whom she loved dearly, Tammy Langster of Arizona; her stepchildren, Chris Ellington of Cumberland and Michelle Ellington of Chesterfield; her sisters, Linda K. Wyatt (Ken) of DeWitt and Brenda C. Shaw (Tom) of Georgia; nephews, Rodney Wyatt, Sr. (Julie) of Chesterfield and Troy Allen (Angie); great-nieces, Keely Allen and Hailey Wyatt; great-nephew, Rodney Wyatt, Jr.; and many other extended family members.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 20, 2022, at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834. A procession will take place after the visitation to her graveside service, which will begin at 2:00 p.m. in Dale Memorial Park, 10201 Newbys Bridge Road Chesterfield, Virginia 23832.
