Melvin Atkinson

Melvin Wayne Atkinson, 40, of Chester, Virginia, passed away on July 11, 2017, at his home after battling colon cancer. Wayne was a loving and hard-working father and husband, and a dedicated diesel mechanic at South Eastern Truck and Trailer. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, James Melvin Lee, Sr., and his grandmother, Geneva Atkinson. Melvin is survived by his wife, Crystle Atkinson; son, Jeremy Atkinson; his daughter, Lillian Atkinson; father, Vinnie Atkinson; his mother, Brenda Atkinson; a brother, Keith Atkinson; his sisters, Kristie Skinner and Melissa Peery, as well as fourteen nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held Monday, July 17, 2017 at 10:00 a.m., in Southlawn Memorial Park, 1911 Birdsong Road, South Prince George, Virginia 23805. The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 16, 2017 from 3:00 and 4:30 p.m. at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E.
